Yesterday May posted a beautiful piece on #DUND – Dress Up Not Down
As I replied to her this has been my norm for the last several years. When I work I dress up. In the last decade the work dress codes went from button downs and ties to polo shirts and eventually t-shirts and hoodies if you worked in a plant.
Me, my dress helps set my mind. If I look like a professor I think like a professor. I am in a mood to write, coach, mentor, or correct. Fortunately that’s my role. So it works.
Some days it’s a bow tie
others a full Windsor knot.

When doing – do it with flair and panache. Even in this time and working from home.

It makes me sad that people in Australia are determined to dress down as much as humanely possible. I have tried to explain to my students that dress shows the level of respect you have for yourself and the people you are with. Their response “Miss that is such a CEEBS”

Oooo being a yank CEEBS was a new regional slang for me. Can’t be bothered? That’s as bad as not brushing your teeth or hair before a first thing in the morning telephone conference! Ugh. Preparation and attitude are everything for setting up for success!
